Obituary: Harold E. Hatfield

Harold E. Hatfield of Hardy, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 93. He was born May 23, 1931, at Poplar Corner, Arkansas, the son of Fred and Hazel (Green) Hatfield.

Bro. Hatfield was a lifelong minister. His work in the ministry began on August 12, 1952, at the age of 21, and extended throughout his lifetime. He founded the Faith Fellowship Assembly in 1991 in Kentucky and was the minister there until December 31, 2010.

In addition to his work in the ministry, Bro. Hatfield worked as a labor superintendent for Gus K. Newburg Construction for 28 ½ years, until his retirement in 1986.

During his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. The greatest joy in his life came from time spent with his devoted wife, Kathryn, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He especially enjoyed pretending to be Ashley’s patient, playing dress-up with Zoey, and having discussions with Saxton.

Bro. Hatfield was preceded in death by two sons, Christopher Hatfield and Lonnie Hatfield; one daughter, Donna Jo Hatfield; one granddaughter, Stevie Harris; four brothers, Billy Hatfield, Merle Hatfield, Floyd Hatfield, and Freddie Hatfield; four sisters, Helen Jones, Virginia Barnett, Elwanda Hall, and Glenda Brock; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kathryn (Melton) Hatfield of the home; three sons, Glenn Hatfield and wife, Michele of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, Roger Hatfield of Eddyville, Kentucky, and Rick Still and wife, Andrea of Stuttgart, Arkansas; one brother, Nick Hatfield and wife, Jackie of Smithland, Kentucky; one sister, Aretta Hubbard and husband, George of Smithland, Kentucky; fourteen grandchildren, Christa, Misty, Jacob, Amber, Faith, Krystal, Brandon, Saxton, Charly, Raymundo, Luciano, Josh, Jeremy, and Brittany; thirty great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and church family; as well as a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home, on Thursday, June 20, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Swifton Assembly of God, with interment following at Arnold Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Josh Hatfield, David Wells, Alex Bice, Clayton Offett, Steve Dravenstott, Saxton Still, Troy Owens, and Michael Owens.
