Dexter Lee Pruett of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on September 28, 1944, in Newport, the son of Jeff “Dink” and Beddie (Pharis) Pruett.
Mr. Pruett was the owner and operator of Pruett’s Nursery in Newport, where he worked alongside his wife, Eva, until their retirement in 2000.
Mr. Pruett was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He also took pleasure in gardening, woodworking, and watching Westerns, particularly Gunsmoke.
Mr. Pruett was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Eva Marie (Ellison) Pruett; two sisters, Betty Woodruff and Lavada Ridell; and his parents.
He is survived by one daughter, Tabatha Dowell and husband, Keith of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Gabriel Dowell and Aiden Dowell, both of Jonesboro; two sisters, Beverly Stoker of Amagon and Wilma Jean Garrett of Gainesville, Georgia; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of friends.
