Beginning Friday, July 5, the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) will conduct a month-long virtual public involvement meeting regarding the designation of U.S. Highway 67 as Interstate 57 from Interstate 40 in North Little Rock to Highway 412 in Walnut Ridge.

Interstate 57 currently begins at Sikeston, Mo. at Interstate 55 and continues to Chicago, Ill. at Interstate 94.

ARDOT will seek approval from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to designate a portion of U.S. Highway 67 as Interstate 57. After FHWA approval, the only physical changes to the current corridor will consist of sign replacement.

ARDOT says the designation will potentially provide more economic opportunities and increase property value along the corridor. No existing addresses will be affected.

The public can view meeting materials and provide comments by accessing the website at this link. (The meeting materials will not be available at the link until July 5.)

The website will provide a video presentation and information regarding an overview about the Interstate 57 corridor, Interstate designation requirements, how an individual may be affected by the Interstate designation, and lastly how questions and comments can be submitted for consideration.

The deadline for viewing the materials and submitting comments will end at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5.
