Martha Jane (Goldman) Jackson of Amagon, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the age of 95. She was born April 9, 1929, in Remmel, the daughter of Pete and Effie (Stacy) Goldman.
Martha Jane Goldman was a 1948 graduate of Newport High School, where she enjoyed playing basketball for the Lady Greyhounds. On Valentine’s Day, 1948, she married Mr. Wayne Jackson, and together they enjoyed 52 years of marriage.
Martha Jane was an active member of Midway Church of Christ. She taught Bible class and could always be counted on to help with VBS. She was a woman of quiet faith, a kind and humble soul. Mrs. Jackson enjoyed taking care of people in her community whenever she saw a need. She didn’t do anything for show, but rather acted out of love for people and the Lord.
Martha Jane enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her flower beds, as she had a love for beautiful flowers. She was an excellent cook, spending a great deal of time canning and preparing meals for others. She enjoyed fishing with her soul mate. When she was not enjoying the outdoors, she loved to spend time sewing and quilting.
Most of all, she loved her family and cherished the time she spent with them.
Martha Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Wayne Jackson; two sons, Steve Jackson and William Jackson; one grandson, Clint Jackson; two brothers, Johnny Goldman and W.O. “Whistle” Goldman; two sisters, Madelyn Goldman Huey and Lois Goldman Balch; and her parents.
