Batesville’s Gallery 246 is featuring the work of two Mountain View artists through August.
Marcia Wallace
According to a release from the non-profit organization, Marcia Wallace has called Arkansas home since 1984. After years of miscellaneous jobs and teaching workshops to all ages through Arts in Education programs, Wallace became a full-time instructor at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville in art, theater, and speech for 17 years.
Upon retiring, she became a board member of the Arkansas Craft School in Mountain View and is currently the president of the Mountain View Art Guild. Wallace focuses primarily on watercolor and acrylic painting.
Phyllis Haynes
Phyllis Haynes spent most of her career as a nonprofit executive, dealing with budgets, grant writing, personnel management, and fundraising. Since retiring as the CEO of the Little Rock-based Arkansas Foodbank, Haynes has studied a variety of mediums. But, according to the release, her heart has focused on the two “P’s” – pottery and painting.
Haynes most enjoys painting landscapes. She switched from wheel-throwing pottery, finding it tedious and limited, to slab building and focuses on “one of a kind” sculptures, including masks, vases, and houses.
The work of both artists can be seen inside and in the windows of Gallery 246, located at 243 E. Main Street in Batesville.
