Despite some rain and unwanted mud, the 2024 edition of the Cave City Watermelon Festival brought big crowds over the weekend to the Home of the World’s Sweetest Watermelons.
The festival, which kicked off Thursday, July 25, featured family-fun events in the city park, live music, food trucks, vendors, a watermelon parade, a kid’s fishing derby, a classic car parade, a class car show, the Melon Dash 5K, and lots of delicious and sweet Cave City watermelons.
This year’s entertainment headliners included Boys in the Band, an Alabama tribute band, on Friday and country star Collin Raye, who concluded the festival on Saturday.
This year, the festival added the Melon Grind, a 13-mile bicycle ride down gravel roads used to transport melons years ago.
