Glenn Whiteaker, 84, of Batesville passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024.
He was born February 28, 1940, in Optimus, Arkansas to Bernard and Wilma (Cartwright) Whiteaker.
Glenn was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of and Song Director for Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was a graduate of Southside High School and Petit Jean Vocational School and went on to own his own business, Whiteaker Refrigeration. He worked for Entergy for 22 years as an electrical engineer and in retirement, he developed Whiteaker Estates. Glenn was a giver and a real family man with a good sense of humor. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening, liked driving his tractor, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married on September 11, 1959, JoAnn (Woodruff) Whiteaker; two sons, Randy Whiteaker and Chad Whiteaker (Amanda) of Batesville; one sister, Oval Jean Johnson (Harvey) of Searcy, and three grandchildren, Emma Whiteaker of Searcy, Ally Whiteaker of Chicago, Illinois, and Nick Whiteaker of Batesville.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers are Nicholas Whiteaker, Chase Engdahl, Ryan Engdahl, Alex Engdahl, Michael Johnson, and Whiteaker Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Moser and the members of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church, with Scott Jones and Chuck Roach officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., just before the service.
