White County sheriff’s deputy, state inmates sustain injuries in Highway 67 accident

A White County sheriff’s deputy and three state inmates were injured Thursday morning when the deputy’s vehicle crashed on Highway 67/167 near Bald Knob.

The White County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. as the deputy was transporting the inmates to Newport. The deputy lost control of the county vehicle at the northbound 54-mile marker.

All occupants of the vehicle were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.

The accident is being investigated by the Arkansas State Police.
