Obituary: Ethel Baughn

Mrs. Ethel Lee (Baker) Baughn of Tuckerman, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 84. She was born March 14, 1940, in Cave City, Arkansas, the daughter of Noah Ellis Baker and Vada Marie (Brewer) Baker.

Miss Ethel Baker and Mr. Dale Baughn’s love story began when they first crossed paths at the Bank of Tuckerman. They married on December 12, 1959, marking the start of an enduring partnership. Throughout their many years together, they shared a life and collaborated in tending to their farm and establishing Baughn Construction Company.

Mrs. Baughn was a farmer’s daughter who loved the outdoors. She could often be seen tending to her yard and her beautiful flower beds. A true salt of the earth woman, Mrs. Baughn was a wonderful “cook from scratch” Southern cook. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and was known for her delicious dishes.

Mrs. Baughn loved animals, saving and tending to the many strays that wandered up to her home.
Always ready to offer assistance, she diligently worked to improve Tuckerman, playing a key role in the City Beautiful Commission and the Rural Water Association.

Mrs. Baughn was preceded in death by one grandchild, Stephanie Baughn Dennis; one brother, Max Baker; and her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dale Baughn of the home; two sons, Richard Baughn of Jonesboro and Stephen Baughn and wife, Angela of Russellville; one sister, Ollie (Baker) Brown of Tuckerman; five grandchildren, Jordan Baughn, Alex Baughn, Caroline Baughn, Isabella Baughn, and Jake French; her great-grandchildren, Chaylun Dennis, Emeri Baughn, Easton Baughn, Everleigh Baughn, Anthony Baughn, Alban Baughn, and Elly French; one great-great grandchild, Chandler Dennis; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home, Monday, August 19, 2024 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Monday.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jordan Baughn, Jake French, Chaylun Dennis, Alex Baughn, Blize Porter, and Kenny Bowen. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Swink, Doyle Riley, Joe Penn, Jim Penn, Jim Haney, Michael Honey, Will Honey, Harry Wright, Darel Guerin, and Tommy Morgan.
