The Independence County Library is honored to welcome Retired Rear Admiral Bob Carius for an insightful presentation titled The Final Vietnam Deployment on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, with hors d’oeuvres provided.
This marks Admiral Carius’ third appearance at the library, following two widely attended and highly regarded presentations. His service and leadership during the Vietnam War provide a unique perspective that has captivated local audiences. Sloane Lott, the library’s Community Engagement Coordinator, stated, “We are thrilled to host Admiral Carius once again. His presentations are always deeply engaging, and we’ve seen attendance grow with each event.”
Admiral Carius brings a distinguished military career spanning over three decades, including his service in the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1981. His deployments include tours aboard the USS Princeton (CV 37), USS New Orleans (LPH 11), and USS Bennington (CV 20), as well as service in the Pacific Ocean, Vietnam, and Washington, D.C. He retired with the rank of Rear Admiral after a career marked by dedication to both his country and his comrades.
This event will offer the public a rare opportunity to hear firsthand from one of the nation’s decorated veterans of the Vietnam War. The presentation will take place in the library’s main auditorium.
