A classroom fire at Eagle Mountain Elementary early Monday morning prompted Batesville School District officials to cancel classes as a precaution.

The district said the fire was contained to one classroom on the second floor, thanks to a quick response from the Batesville Fire Department.

Images from the scene (below) show blackened school equipment, chair frames with melted seats, and extensive damage to the walls and ceiling.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The district said it will provide updates throughout the day as more information becomes available.
