State police identify victim in fatal Newark truck crash

The Arkansas State Police have identified the victim of a truck crash that occurred early Tuesday at the OMP Feed Mill near Newark.

According to the state police fatality report, a Kenworth heading south on State Highway 69 struck the trailer of a Peterbilt attempting to make a left turn onto the highway from a private drive to head north. Both vehicles came to a stop on the highway, and the Peterbilt trailer then caught fire.

The driver of the Kenworth, Malcolm Hix, 49, of Batesville, was killed in the crash, which occurred at 4:39 a.m.
