Obituary: Ella Faye Scroggins

Ella Faye Scroggins, 86, of Marcella, went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Faye was born on April 20, 1938, to OT Anderson and Verna (Cochran) Anderson. After graduating from Pleasant Grove High School, she married her high school sweetheart on August 4, 1956. Jim and Faye were married for 68 years. Faye was a faithful and dedicated member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Missions Secretary and Sunday school teacher. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Melrose Fire Department and actively supported and contributed to many fund-raising events. Faye was the president of the York Cemetery for 25 years, helping with the grounds upkeep, and organizing benefits. She had a special love for the youth and on various occasions opened up her home to those in need and served as a Foster Parent for several children. She was an avid homemaker and took great pride in gardening, canning, and yard work. Faye and Jim were cattle farmers and also ran a poultry operation for many years. They were selected as Farm Family of the Year for Stone County in 1989.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Scroggins of the home; son, Shannon Scroggins (Teresa) of Marcella; daughter, Sherry Waters (Raymond) of Batesville; son, Jerry Scroggins (Karen) of Malvern; sister, Barbara Davis (Jerry) of Locust Grove; life long friend and sister in law, Betty Anderson of Marcella; grandchildren, JJ, Jordan, and Jayden Scroggins, Dacen Waters, Spencer, Connor, and Rand Scroggins; as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Grace Fern Fulks and Avanell Sutton; and brother, GC Anderson.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at 2PM with Jerry Scroggins and Brother Don Fletcher officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 PM-2 PM.
