Independence County election officials are facing complaints about electioneering during early voting at the Batesville Community Center.

According to K8 News, individuals have been stationed about 100 feet from the community center entrance, reportedly attempting to sway voters on a ballot issue, which violates state law.

Election Commission Coordinator Cathy Drew said she had never seen this behavior inside the community center property. Voters have lodged complaints, with some alleging the electioneers were harassing them and even following them toward the entrance.

Voter Dustyn Bork filed a complaint after observing confrontational behavior toward elderly voters. The electioneers denied the accusations when approached by K8 News.

Drew stated the complaints have been forwarded to the state election board for investigation.
