Charles Edgar Selvidge, 79, of Possum Grape, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024. He was born in Newport, Arkansas, on December 17, 1944, to Joe Edgar and Mattie Lee (Jackson) Selvidge.
Edgar was a man of strong faith, adhering to the Baptist belief, and was a dedicated member of Surrounded Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he found community and solace. Known for his hardworking nature, Edgar spent much of his life as a mechanic, a trade he loved and excelled in. His skill and knowledge of machinery made him a trusted figure in his community.
Beyond his mechanical work, Edgar had a deep passion for gardening. He found joy in working the soil, nurturing plants, and providing for his family through the fruits of his labor. In his spare time, he also enjoyed working on Ham radios, a hobby that showcased his love for tinkering and his innate curiosity for how things worked.
Charles Edgar Selvidge will be fondly remembered for his kindness, devotion, and unwavering work ethic. His legacy of faith and service will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by numerous family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Selvidge (Faye) of Possum Grape; his sister, Grace Stidham (Gene) of Possum Grape; his niece, Sherry Black (Pat) of Jonesboro; his nephews, Steve Selvidge (Teerah) of Possum Grape, Daniel Selvidge (Veronica) of Olyphant, Randy Selvidge of Oxford, Bobby Selvidge of Possum Grape.
Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jason Bailey officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. The interment will be at Blue Springs Cemetery.
