Finis Allen Barnes, 75, passed away on October 31, 2024, in Little Rock, AR. He was born on December 21, 1948, in Batesville, AR to the late David “Cotton” Barnes Sr. and Montine (Laster)Barnes. In his younger years, Finis liked to play softball. He enjoyed painting on canvases, karaoke, and listening to music. Finis had just recently purchased an electric guitar and had planned on learning to play it. He worked for M & A Jones Construction company for many years. He was of the Church of Christ faith. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife of fifty-two years and the rest of his family.
Finis is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Arrita (Curtis) Barnes; son, Dustin “Kyley” Barnes (Christie) of Leavensworth, KS; daughters, Shelley McCormick of Batesville, AR and Alyssa Broadway (Jason) of Newark, AR; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Romero (Lawrence), Joseph Barnes, Bentleigh Fultner (Jake), Kailseigh Barnes, Trinity Barnes, Devin Barnes, Corbin Broadway, Jackson McCormick, Eli McCormick, Parker Broadway, Braxton Broadway, Swayzeigh Broadway, and Chesneigh Broadway; great-grandbaby on the way, Jensyn Isla Fultner; brothers, Johnny Batson (Shirley) and David Barnes Jr. (Barbara); sister, Donna Pectol (Ernie); in-laws, Janis Shane and Rickey Curtis (Rebecca); and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Scottie Laster; brother-in-law, Leslie Shane; mother-in-law, Kathlene Pectol; and father-in-law, Gene Pectol.
There will be a Visitation held at Willis Funeral Service Chapel on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 1 PM until 3 PM. The memorial service, officiated by Chuck Crowe, will begin at 3 PM. There will be a procession by the family immediately after the memorial service to Blue Springs Cemetery in Newark, AR. Those honored to serve as honorary pallbearers are the doctors and nurses on the fourth floor CVICU at UAMS in Little Rock.
