Authorities in Independence County are searching for a missing Batesville man last seen kayaking on the White River. Bryant Calvert, 53, was reported missing on Monday, Nov. 4, after family members discovered his vehicle abandoned at a boat ramp in Guion, Arkansas. Calvert’s yellow kayak was also missing.
According to the Independence County Sheriff’s Office, Calvert sent an email to his family on Saturday indicating he intended to say goodbye. Calvert’s information has been entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NAMUS), and authorities conducted a river search from Batesville to Guion but found no signs of him.
Due to river conditions, the sheriff’s office has paused further water searches. Investigators are following up on leads and ask anyone with information to call Investigator Tate or any on-duty deputy at 870-793-8838.
