A Sharp County jury has sentenced Terry Woodstock Long, 64, of Ash Flat, to 560 years in prison after convicting him of 14 counts of rape, according to the Spring River Chronicle.
Long, found guilty of multiple charges of rape—a Class Y felony that carries a minimum sentence of 25 years per count—received 40-year sentences on each count, which will be served consecutively.
The sentencing followed a one-hour deliberation for conviction and a subsequent 20-minute deliberation to issue the maximum penalty on each count. Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Devon Holder argued for the maximum sentence, suggesting it would reflect the community’s commitment to prosecuting child sex crimes. Judge Rob Ratton upheld the jury’s decision, ordering the sentences to run consecutively.
