A milk delivery driver’s quick response is being hailed as a heroic act after he noticed a fire at Eagle Mountain Elementary School in Batesville early one morning and took action to alert authorities.
The Batesville School District thanked Phillips, a local milk delivery driver for Kallsnick, Inc., for his vigilance in spotting the fire during his delivery in late September.
According to the district, Phillips noticed flames at the school and promptly reported the incident, which helped prevent significant damage.
In a statement shared on social media, district officials expressed their deep gratitude to Phillips, saying, “Thank you will never be enough!”
The district said in the statement that although Phillips declined formal recognition at a board meeting, district representatives recently caught up with him in person, presenting him with a basket of goodies, a plaque honoring his bravery, and handmade thank-you cards from students.
