Rundown of Monday’s Mark Martin/Lyon College High School Basketball Invitational Tournament

Monday marked the first day of the Mark Martin/Lyon College High School Invitational Tournament.

Here’s a rundown of yesterday’s action from Lyon’s Becknell Gymnasium:

Girls Action

Manila 55, Cedar Ridge 33
Lucy Farmer scored 15 points, Hadlie Goodson added 11, and Bailey Wilson scored 10 to lead Manila to a first-round win.

Leilah Campbell led Cedar Ridge with 9 points, and Shelby Pankey scored 8.

Manila advances to play Mountain View in the tournament semifinals on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Cedar Ridge will play on Thursday against Southside at 8 p.m. in the consolation bracket.

Nettleton 69, Thayer 42
Jessica Collins scored 20 points, Kaedyn Hardaway added 14 and Kinsley Patterson scored 11 to lead Nettleton over Thayer.

Thayer was led by Abby Bowers with 9 points, Kayden Hilles and Ryleigh Davis both score 8 points apiece in the loss.

Nettleton will take on Greers Ferry Westside in the tournament semifinals on Thursday at 5:20 p.m.

Thayer falls to the consolation bracket to play Gosnell at 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mountain View 71, Southside 42 (Image above)
Jacie Cooper scored 18 points, Erin Akins added 17, Evvi Cooper scored 15 and Emma Akins added 14 to lead Mountain View over Southside.

Southside was led by Maci Witt with 17 points.

Mountain View will play in the tournament semifinals on Wednesday night against Manila at 8 p.m.

Greers Ferry Westside 60, Gosnell 21
Kately Cornett scored 14 points, Lainee Gentry added 13 and Whitley Goodson scored 11 to lead Greers Ferry Westside by Gosnell.

Gosnell was led by Lanneshia Lincoln with 11 points.

Greers Ferry Westside advances to the tournament semifinals on Thursday and will play Nettleton at 5:20 p.m.

Boys Action


Cedar Ridge 56, Mountain View 41
Rylan Brown scored 33 points and Kyle Provence added 17 to lead the Cedar Ridge Timberwolves over Mountain View.

Mountain View was led by Tyler Newton with 11 points, while Cole Gray scored 9.

Cedar Ridge moves on to play Batesville on Wednesday night at 6:40 p.m.
