The National Weather Service is now calling for a Winter Storm Warning for much of Arkansas, effective from noon Thursday to Friday at 6 p.m.

Forecasters predict heavy snow with possible accumulations of 4 to 6 inches during this period, creating hazardous travel conditions. Slippery roads are expected to impact both the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.

Weather Details:

Wednesday: Sunny, high of 34 degrees, wind chills as low as 14.
Tonight: Clear skies, low near 18.
Thursday: Increasing clouds, high near 35, wind chills as low as 19. Snow is expected to begin Thursday night, with a 90% chance of precipitation.
Friday: Snow in the morning, transitioning to a mix of rain and snow later. High near 36.
Temperatures will drop again Friday night, with a low of around 20 under clearing skies.

Officials urge Arkansans to prepare for the storm by winterizing homes, assembling emergency kits, and having a plan in place.

Entergy Arkansas advises residents to familiarize themselves with generator and gas safety, as well as extreme cold precautions. (Click here for more info from Entergy Arkansas.)
