Edward Eugene Williams of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born April 27, 1944, in Gotebo, Oklahoma, the son of Silas Crockett and Delia (Love) Williams Shore.
Over the years, Mr. Williams wore many hats and excelled in every role he took on. He began his career as a video game operator and became the owner of Williams Tobacco Sales. In addition to his ventures in sales, he had a remarkable fifty-year career in real estate. Throughout the years, he serviced convenience stores and especially enjoyed working with Jordan’s Kwik Stop, where he made many lasting friendships. Mr. Williams also owned and operated The Silver Moon Banquet Hall for many years.
Mr. Williams worked tirelessly to beautify his community, planting flowers and trees. His dedication extended beyond landscaping, as he built stone walls and repurposed old stone and materials throughout Newport. Mr. Williams took great pride in keeping Newport beautiful. While Mr. Williams wasn’t hard at work, he was cheering on his favorite team, the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his wife, Brandon (Cooley) Williams; two brothers, Crockett Williams and Henry Williams; and his parents, Silas Crockett Williams and Delia (Love) Williams Shore, and stepfather, Lonnie Shore.
He is survived by his sons, Mike Williams and Jeremy Decker, both of Newport; his daughters, Vickie McDonie and husband, Patrick, and Kathy Manuel, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother, Walter Williams, of Cabot; two sisters, Rose Brown Hill of Cabot and Vida Williams of Tuckerman; four grandchildren, Shyler Greer and wife, Julie, Blaise Manuel, Emily McDonie, and Lexie McDonie; two great-great grandchildren, Jude Greer and Samuel Greer; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may visit Jackson’s Funeral Home on Saturday, January 18, 2025, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Rick Womack officiating. The interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Shyler Greer, Matt Cronin, Bruce Long, John Long, Tyson Draper, and Jackie McClure.
