Two men have been arrested on charges related to methamphetamine distribution following an investigation by the 16th District Drug Task Force, Stone County Sheriff’s Office, and Mountain View Police Department.

Charles W. Coles (below), 31, of Conway, has been charged in Stone County Circuit Court with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with the purpose to deliver more than 10 grams but less than 200 grams.

Authorities said Coles had been under surveillance since December 2024, when the agencies launched an investigation. According to court documents, a confidential informant identified Coles as someone “constantly” bringing “large quantities of methamphetamine to the Stone County area.”

Coles was arrested Jan. 9 after a Mountain View police officer stopped a vehicle in which he was a passenger. Investigators said a Ziploc bag containing a white crystalline substance was thrown from the passenger-side window during the stop. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine, with the bag weighing more than 10 grams but less than 200 grams.

Coles is being held at the Stone County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.

In a separate case, Scott Eugene McGuire (below), 37, of Mountain View, was arrested Jan. 9 after being stopped by Mountain View police for driving left of center. During a consented search of McGuire’s vehicle, officers found a bag hidden in the engine compartment.

Officials said the bag contained 69 grams of methamphetamine divided into multiple baggies, along with several hypodermic needles. Some of the needles were loaded with a clear liquid that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

McGuire is charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with the purpose to deliver more than 10 grams but less than 200 grams, one felony count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and is being charged as a habitual offender.

His bond has been set at $35,000.
