Fire departments from Southside, Desha, and Batesville responded to a hangar fire at the Batesville Regional Airport Tuesday morning.

According to the Southside Volunteer Fire Department, crews from each department were dispatched at 7:46 a.m. In a post on its social media, the SVFD said fire units on the scene made a “quick knock down on the fire.”

No injuries were reported , but there was extensive damage to the aircraft and hangar.

According to Airport Manager Justin Thompson, firefighters remained on the scene until about 10:15 a.m.

The hangar, which was owned by the airport, contained a plane at the time of the fire. There is no word yet on whether the aircraft can be salvaged, but it did not catch fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
