Batesville High School (BHS) cheer coach Allison Angel has been named the Arkansas Activities Association Outstanding Cheer Coach of the Year, an honor recognizing her leadership and contributions to the Pioneer Cheer program.
Under Angel’s guidance, the BHS Cheer program has reached new heights, not only igniting school spirit but also raising the bar for competitive cheer, BHS said in a media release.
Most recently, the school’s Competitive Coed Cheer Team placed 18th in the nation in the Varsity Large Coed division at the National Cheerleaders Association High School Nationals. The team also earned a 36.5 out of 40 on its Fight Song routine. BHS was one of only two Arkansas teams in its division.
“This honor means the world to me,” Angel said. “I’m incredibly grateful to work with such hard-working athletes, supportive parents, and a school that believes in the power of cheer. Watching these students grow and achieve at the highest level is the most rewarding part of my job.”
BHS Principal Kevin Bledsoe praised Angel’s impact on the program.
“Coach Angel has completely redefined what cheer means at BHS,” Bledsoe said. “She has not only revitalized school spirit but also set a new standard for competitive excellence. Our cheerleaders aren’t just supporting our teams—they’re competing at an elite level, and that’s a direct reflection of her dedication and vision.”
