Independence County has officially transitioned to a new booking system, Relativity Public Safety (RPS), to enhance efficiency and accuracy in managing inmate and detainee records.

“The switch to RPS will improve the booking process, save valuable time for our officers, and ensure the integrity of inmate data from the moment of arrest.”

According to Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens, the RPS system is designed to streamline the intake process, allowing for quicker processing of individuals entering the county’s detention facilities. The system features a user-friendly interface and robust tracking capabilities, which are expected to improve the accuracy of inmate records, reduce booking errors, and enhance transparency for law enforcement agencies.

“We are committed to enhancing our operations to better serve our community,” said Sheriff Shawn Stephens of Independence County. “The switch to RPS will improve the booking process, save valuable time for our officers, and ensure the integrity of inmate data from the moment of arrest.”

The RPS system includes several key features, such as:

• Real-time data entry for booking, release, and transfer information.

• Improved search capabilities for inmate history and case details.

• Seamless integration with local law enforcement databases and court systems.

• Enhanced security measures to protect sensitive information.

County officials believe the transition will bring greater transparency, efficiency, and accountability to the jail system, benefiting both law enforcement personnel and the public. All county staff have completed training on the new system, and RPS is now officially live.

For more information about the transition to RPS, individuals can contact the Independence County Detention Center at (870) 612-6880. Additionally, the RPS-Inmate Info app is available for download from the App Store, providing access to inmate information at the detention center.
