Firefighters responded to a house fire on Gainsboro Road Sunday afternoon where one person had been inside, officials said.
The Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched around 12:30 p.m. to a report of a fire with an occupant still inside. A family member who lived near the home was able to get the person out of the house before crews arrived.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke inside and saw flames through a window, the department said.
With a rapid mutual aid response from the Northside Volunteer Fire Department, crews quickly contained the fire to a single room, preventing further damage.
The majority of the house was saved, and no injuries were reported. Officials thanked Office of Emergency Management Director Bill Johnson and Vital Link for their assistance.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No serious injuries were reported.
