Betty Blevins, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Betty, 72, of Newport, passed away peacefully at her home on February 9, 2025. She was born on December 29, 1952, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, to Charles and Wonetta (Allen) Henson.
Betty’s faith was the foundation of her life. As a dedicated member of Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church, she found great joy in teaching the youth and lifting her voice in the church choir. Her passion for nurturing others extended beyond the church as she served as an LPN for over 30 years, caring for countless patients with compassion and kindness.
Beyond her work, Betty had a creative and gentle spirit. She loved cross-stitching, painting, and reading, finding peace in each stitch and brushstroke. She also had a deep appreciation for nature’s beauty, cherishing flowers and plants that brought joy to her heart. Betty’s warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith touched everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Byron Henson, and one sister Brenda Vandergriff.
She leaves behind her husband just 29 days shy of 50 years Doug Blevins of Newport, one daughter Tonya Haigwood of Newport, two brothers; Frank Henson and wife Linda of Reno, AR, Ely Henson of Pocahontas, one sister Barbara Smith of Pocahontas, two grandchildren Olivia Haigwood and Sophie Haigwood, one nephew Chris Smith and wife Linda of Dalton, AR, four nieces: Shelley Greenhalgh of Camdenton, MO, Jamie Farrar and husband Dereck of Minturn, Amanda Harris and husband Clay of Pleasant Plains, Jessica Pinkston of Camdenton, MO, and many great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Dillinger Chapel with interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 1 to 2 p.m.
