Burl Dean Gammill, 92, of Fox, Arkansas, passed peacefully on March 3, 2025 and woke in the arms of his Savior. He was born in Timbo, Arkansas, on July 28, 1932 to the late Mr. Olis and Cleo (Goodman) Gammill.

Burl was born and raised in Stone County, Arkansas. He met the love of his life and married Jimmie Green on May 28, 1954. After marrying Jimmie they moved to Marion, Indiana and he worked at RCA from 1954-1969. After saving up the money, Burl moved his family back to Arkansas. He spent the majority of his life raising chickens, farming, and built a few chicken houses to support his family. He loved being outside with his garden and taking his produce to the Farmer’s Market to sell his goods, often giving some of it away to passersby. He loved his chainsaw and riding his lawn mower up to the post office to check his mail. Burl and his family attended Fairview Missionary Baptist Church in Timbo and gained another family whom he also loved and cherished. He woke up every morning asking if it was Sunday, church day. He loved to attend church, worshipping, singing praises to his Lord and waving to the little ones as they passed by his pew. Burl had an enormous heart for children. He could always make friends with the little ones, especially with the candy in his pocket. Burl had a sense of humor; you knew if he teased with you he loved you. Burl’s family was the apple of his eye. He found an abundance of joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. ”I Love Yous” was nearly always spoken, but occasionally they were unspoken with a smile that said it all. Burl will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Burl was survived by his daughter, Janice (Marty) Berry of Fox; son, Dean Gammill of Fox; grandchildren, Justin (Sarah) Berry of Harrison, Jerod (Erin) Berry of Harrison, Eric (Rachel) Gammill of Sherwood, Ashley (Curtis) Sims of Mountain View, Ethan (Taylor) Gammill of Fort Smith; 17 great-grand children; two sisters, Shirley Brewer of Wichita, Kansas, Linda (Roger) Boutwell of Cushman, Arkansas; a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Burl is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 39 years, Jimmie (Green) Gammill; loving companion of 25 years, Anita Sutterfield; two great-grand daughters, Anna Faith Berry, Sophia Grace Berry; three sisters, Mona May, Louise Southern, Patsy Weaver; six brothers, Conley Gower, Ray Gower, Leon Gower, Ologia Gammill, Max Gammill and Rubin Gammill.
