Obituary: Phyllis Sue Addington

Phyllis Sue Addington, 74, of Amagon, passed from this life on March 9, 2025. She was born in Newport on May 16, 1950, to Gilbert and Pearl (Tidmore) Riley.

Phyllis was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took immense pride in her family. She found joy in cooking, caring for her loved ones, and spending time in her garden, where she nurtured both plants and relationships with equal love and dedication. A woman of strong faith, she was a faithful member of the Midway Church of Christ and carried that faith in all aspects of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her special friend, Jerry Addington.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Phillip Addington (Erica) of Pennington; her daughter, Jerri Sue Burgess (Jerry) of Pennington; her brothers, Donald Riley (Sheila) of Grubbs and Jerry Riley (Valerie) of Weiner; her sister, Ludene Thornton of Bakersfield, California; her grandchildren, Hali Bradshaw of Pennington and Hanna Longino (Josh) of Diaz; and her great-grandchildren, Chloe Howard, Casen Howard, and Ridge Longino. She also leaves behind many cherished friends and extended family members who will miss her dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Johnstown Memorial Garden Cemetery, with Brother Llano Robinson and David Howard officiating.

Phyllis’s kind spirit, unwavering love, and dedication to family will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
