
Marjorie Jo Hill, lovingly known as “Margie”, 74, of Newport, passed from this life on March 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She was born in Eureka, California, on February 2, 1951, to Welford Lawrence and Naoma Ruth (Sanderson) Hicks.
Marjorie dedicated most of her career to law enforcement, working both in Jackson and Woodruff County as a dispatcher, as well as the prison. she loved serving her community with commitment and integrity, She ended her career as a caregiver with Hospice; she loved taking care of people. She was also a proud member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the V.F.W., supporting veterans and their families.
She enjoyed drinking coffee, playing Bingo (with B2 as her favorite number), fishing, sewing, cooking, and traveling. Marjorie was a nurturing yet strong woman who guided her children with both firmness and love, teaching them the values of family, resilience, and responsibility. She never turned her back on her family through any life struggles but instead offered unwavering love and support. Above all, she was a best friend to her grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life, Fred Hill, and her brother-in-law, Keith Jones.
She is survived by her son, Robert Sadler (Kathi Dodson) of Bald Knob; her daughters, Cindy Jo Sadler of Newport, Kimberly Bishop Ashby (Brian Hurst) of Grubbs, Charla Herman (Matt) of Newport, Sara Hill (Paul Newcomb) of Newport, and Tina Herman (Landon) of Newport; her brothers, Doug Hicks, David Hicks (Jackie) and Danny Hicks (Cindy); her sisters, Karen Shaddix (Greg) and Eileen Jones; her twenty-one grandchildren, Shawn, Jessica, Zane, Joe, Amy Jo, Ryan, April, Kaitlyn, Brittany, Dylan, Emmett, Owen, Isaac, Ellie, Makayla, Kynlee, Iris, Deanna, Taylor, Emma and Brian; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends.
Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
