The Batesville School District has announced the selection of Tina Baker (pictured) as the next principal of Sulphur Rock Elementary School, effective July 1, 2025.
Baker will transition into the role from her current position as assistant principal at West Elementary School.
Her appointment follows a review of applicants and a recommendation by Superintendent Dr. James, based on her teaching and administrative experience within the district.
Baker has served in a variety of roles over her career, including 20 years as a classroom teacher at Central Elementary and Sulphur Rock Elementary. She has also worked as an instructional facilitator at West, Sulphur Rock, and Eagle Mountain elementary schools, and served as dean of students and assistant principal at West Elementary.
She has led professional development initiatives for the district in areas including RISE, ELLA and ELF, and has experience in reading, phonics, writing, math and science instruction. Baker has been recognized as a RISE trainer and received a Model Classroom award.
A graduate of Sulphur Rock High School, Baker will return to her alma mater to lead as principal.
