Southside High School’s head football coach has been named as a finalist for AAAA Coach of the Year for the 2017 Farm Bureau Insurance Awards.
Coach Kenny Simpson, now in his seventh year in the head slot for the Southerners, was selected as one of three finalists in the AAAA classification for the awards which also honors Arkansas coaches in other categories, as well as state offensive and defensive players.
The finalists are selected by the staff of Hooten’s Arkansas Football and will be awarded at a ceremony in North Little Rock.
Simpson led the Southerners to a 10-2 record this year, the best yet for Southside Football.
“I’m blessed with a good administration, good coaches and really great kids,” the coach noted to White River Now.
