National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), is being celebrated this week by Batesville School District (BSD) to focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do.

As part of its celebration for the week, the district is recognizing the district’s counselors: Regina Forehand, Teresa Toy, Mary Eary, Sharonda McGaha, Chuck Crow, Darlene Sowers, Michele Gerhardt, and Leigh Keller.

Students of all ages work with counselors in their buildings to learn both academic and social lessons.

National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.

“The Batesville Counselors give the personal care and family connections by daily putting Students First,” said Dr. Michael Hester, BSD superintendent.  “Counselors impact K-12 college and career readiness solutions that help districts and schools align student strengths and interests to postsecondary goals, improving student outcomes and connecting learning to life.”
