The Melba Theater in Batesville will be having some NASCAR fun with a special screening of the Will Ferrell comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Sunday, April 15, with special guest, NASCAR Hall of Famer Mark Martin.
The event is a benefit for Batesville High School’s Project Graduation.
“We were looking for a creative way to help raise money for Project Graduation and thought it would be cool to hang out with Mark Martin for an evening and watch a funny movie,” said Brad Cheatham, coordinator for Project Graduation. “We were thrilled when he said that he would do it.”
Doors will open at 5 p.m. allowing a special time for autographs and photos with Martin in a designated area of the lobby. At 6 p.m., there will be 30 minutes where Mark will entertain questions from the audience before the film begins at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Mark Martin Powersports, Mark Martin Ford, at the Melba Theater, or online at Melbatheater.org.
“It’s not every day you get to hang out with someone who has been inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame,” said Janelle Shell, Melba Theater co-owner. “Rumor has it, Talladega Nights is one of his favorite movies, so the evening should be a lot of fun. I’m interested in hearing some of the questions that folks will have that evening.”
