The Stone County Sheriff’s Office has announced the creation of the Stone County Sheriff’s Foundation. The foundation will be scheduling summer benefits to raise money, says Sean Hickman of the sheriff’s office.
The first goal is to raise the capital needed to purchase bulletproof vests for officers since many of the current vests will soon be outdated as their expiration date is quickly approaching, says Hickman. He noted that the next goal will be to purchase Tasers for the officers so the deputies will have availability to use appropriate force when needed.
Hickman also said the department is looking for sponsors to help fund the foundation’s efforts.
