A parole and probation home visit Friday afternoon, May 11, at a residence on McGuire Street in Desha found several violations.
Deputy Zach Spohr of the Independence County Sheriff’s Department said Parole and Probation agents, Brian Gould, Krista Huston and Melissa Stephens searched the premises and found several drug paraphernalia items and a .22-cal. handgun.
The parolee, 29-year-old Justan Michael Taylor, said the gun belonged to his girlfriend, which she kept for protection. Taylor was taken into custody without incident and is facing several charges including: felony possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon; misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia; and misdemeanor possession of a schedule 6 illegal drug, namely marijuana.
