Independence County received word Thursday, June 28, that a $200,000 grant has been awarded by the Arkansas Economic Development Commission general assistance set-aside program to build a new child care center at Southside Schools.
Southside Schools Superintendent Roger Rich has said many times that the area needs a larger child care center to serve a growing need. He noted that a “waiting list” for the current child care center has existed for quite some time.
Independence County Judge Robert Griffin said the announcement is another example of good news for the area.
