A 22-year-old woman in Stone County has been charged in circuit court with failing to register or verify her registration as a sex offender.

The court information said Gadel Shai Bigham was a homeless person who was being provided a hotel room by local charities until she could permanently settle. After several moves or attempted moves, Bigham was to report to the Mountain View Police Department on June 29 and did not do so. Bigham was currently serving a 120-month probation on sexual assault and sexual indecency with a child charges from August of 2017. Bigham’s bond was set at $5,000.
In a second case in Stone County Circuit Court, 38-year-old Jessica Champagne was charged three felonies and two misdemeanors. The charges included two counts of possession of controlled substances — methamphetamine and marijuana — and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges were the results of an incident in the early morning hours of July 15 when police found Champagne parked in a Mountain View car lot. She told police she was looking to buy a vehicle and was doing some research on it. A computer check found Champagne had a warrant for her arrest out of Washington County. A check of the vehicle she was driving found a baggie of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, according to court documents. She was placed in jail with a bond of $15,000.
