Arrest warrants have been issued for two men who cashed over $1,400 in bogus checks at a Batesville supermarket.
Information on the affidavit of probable cause for arrest said 25-year-old Brandon McDaniels went into the supermarket on Main St. in Batesville on July 13 and forged a check for $484.18. The bogus check had written on the “memo” line, “PAY CHECK.” The bogus check showed it was from Sanders Supply. Officers learned the company does not issue payroll checks in that manner. The supermarket’s video footage helped officers identify McDaniels.
A 30-year-old man, Keatrice Voneric Collins, used the same method of operation to cash two checks at the supermarket — one on July 13 and the other on July 15. Each check was for just over $479, according to authorities.
Investigators, through the Arkansas Crime Information Center, learned that active warrants were out for the arrest of the two men from the Trumann Police Department and the Wynne Police Department. Investigators also learned that the same circumstances of forgery that occurred in Batesville had taken place earlier in Trumann and Wynne.
Keatrice Collins is charged in Batesville with two counts of forgery in the second degree. Brandon McDaniels is charged with one count of forgery in the second degree.
