Shahla Naoman, MD, pulmonology/ sleep medicine, is back on the White River Health System (WRHS) medical staff seeing patients at the Batesville Pulmonology Clinic.
As a sleep medicine specialist, Dr. Naoman is focused on the diagnosis, management, and treatment of sleep disorders such as snoring, sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, and more.
Pulmonology is the specialty that deals with diseases associated with breathing and lung function. Patients referred to a pulmonologist may require treatment from illnesses such as abnormal chest x-ray, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, lung nodules, and other respiratory conditions.
Naoman is experienced in a number of procedures, including acute and chronic medical cases in the medical intensive care unit; ventilator management; and bronchoscopies, which allow a physician to look through airways.
“Dr. Naoman has a unique skill set that will be beneficial to her patients,” said Bebow. “We are eager to have her back at White River Health System.”

Naoman received her medical degree from the Fatima Jinnah Medical College in Pakistan and completed her internal medicine residency and pulmonary medicine fellowship at Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C. She completed fellowship training in sleep medicine at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. She is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and board eligible in sleep medicine.
“I am eager to work with the patients in and around the Batesville area,” said Naoman.
