United Way of North Central Arkansas has named Melinda Light as their new director of events and volunteer services. Light is a former preschool teacher and stay at home mom.

“Melinda is a great asset to the United Way of North Central Arkansas,” said Kimberly Tucker, executive director of the United Way of North Central Arkansas. “We are confident she has the experience and skills necessary to lead the office team, work effectively with community partners and supporters, drive measurable impact, and build strategically to ensure the success of our programs as well as expanding our programs into other areas.”

Light is an Independence County native and graduated from Southside High School in 2001. She received an associate of arts degree from the University of Community College of Batesville in 2010. Upon graduation, she was employed by Southside Christian Academy where she held various positions that enabled her to ensure the safety, and quality of learning of the children. In her spare time, she is involved with Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she teaches the preschool classes.

“I am excited to serve with a talented team of workers and volunteers, and I am looking forward to serving the community,” said Light. “I hope in coming to work for United Way, I can help the communities get more involved with helping others and help promote the great ways that United Way helps people in our coverage area.”

Light is married to Glenn Light, and together they have three children, Trey 13; Ali, 11; and Kenna, 5.
