A 72-year-old man has been charged with rape in Stone County.

Mountain View Police Chief Bobby Day said an officer was called, Monday, Nov. 5, to meet with a 22-year-old woman who accused a man with whom she was staying of rape.

After authorities heard from the victim, they had the suspect, Louie Carl James Rogers, meet them at the Mountain View Police Department, according to court documents.

At first, Rogers denied to authorities any knowledge of the allegations lodged against him by the alleged victim, stating he could not have sex due to numerous medical issues — including problems related to his back, ribs, and knees.

Later, during the interview process and after Day asked for and received a DNA sample from Rogers, Rogers did tell police he “might have accidentally” made sexual penetration with the victim.

Rogers then said he used his fingers to “push her away” and admitted they also might have made penetration.

Rogers told investigators that he didn’t mention those incidents due to being asked about sex, stating again that he “…cannot have it (sex).”

Rogers is now in the Stone County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
