The Mountain View Police Department received word last week that a man in the city limits had a pipe bomb and was holding a woman against her will.

Upon arrival of officers and the sealing off of the residence, Mountain View Police Chief  B. J. Day, who headed that investigation, said the suspect, Willard E. Moyers, Jr., 52, did not have a pipe bomb, but he was holding a woman against her will.

In addition, Moyers was found to be in possession of enough methamphetamine, firearms and drug paraphernalia to be charged with seven more felonies, according to Day.

Moyers is charged with false imprisonment in the first degree, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms (a Class Y felony, which carries the most severe penalty), and domestic battery in the second degree.

The battery charge, according to Day, was because Moyers is accused of taking a drawer from a dresser and breaking it across the back of the female victim’s neck, leaving large bruises. In addition to the possession charges, the other four drug-related charges involve being in possession of two digital scales used to measure an amount of meth, having multiple small plastic baggies with meth residue to store the drug, being in possession of a grinder to prepare the drug, and having two glass smoking devices with white residue. The drug paraphernalia was being used to prepare, pack, and conceal the meth as well as ingest it into the human body, according to Day.

Those charges have now been sent to the prosecuting attorney to be approved and filed in circuit court, the chief noted.
