A White County man was arrested Friday, March 22, after he apparently used his truck to push through a fenced property on Wish Street in Pleasant Plains.

After being reported by the landowner, Independence County Deputy Sheriff Adam McGilton notified White County authorities he would go to the man’s residence in regard to criminal trespass by the suspect, identified by authorities as Austin Strickland, 28. McGilton was also informed at the time the suspect could be intoxicated.

When McGilton found Strickland, the deputy noted he saw damage to the front of his truck and mentioned that to Strickland. McGilton said when he confronted Strickland about pushing through the locked gates and causing damage to both, Strickland asked: “What are you going to do about it?”

McGilton said Strickland then became uncooperative and aggressive as the deputy was placing handcuffs on him. A White County deputy arrived and assisted in placing Strickland into custody, according to the official report.

McGilton returned Strickland to Independence County and placed him in jail to face several charges including: criminal trespass on fenced property, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and leaving the scene of an accident.
