A man wanted by U.S. Marshals fled from local authorities and into Blowing Cave near Cushman on Sunday, according to a post on social media from the Independence County Sheriff’s Department.
The NOMADS Cave Rescue Team was called in, and the subject, identified as Joshua Vanesch, was located hiding in a room of Blowing Cave. Around 3 p.m., he was taken into custody and to the White River Medical Center for treatment, and then he was released to the sheriff’s department. Vanesch was wanted, not only by the U.S. Marshals Office, but also by Van Buren County authorities.
In addition to the cave rescue team, those assisting in finding Vanesch included the Cushman Fire Department, Jim Miller, and officers of the Independence County Sheriff’s Department.
