Obituary: Shirley Waldene Floyd

Shirley Waldene Floyd passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 at the age of 92. She was born Aug. 16, 1927, to the late Walter and Edith (Mitchell) Bachman.

Waldene enjoyed sewing and gardening but her life’s joy and passion was her family. She was an amazing cook. Waldene loved cooking for her family, whether it was getting up at 4 a.m. to cook for her boys going into the deer woods, or making four different copies of the same pie at holidays and family dinners, just because she knew it was somebody’s favorite. She was the type of woman who started lunch at daybreak so that after church her family could set around the table and fellowship and enjoy each other’s company.

Waldene leaves a legacy in her family of love, selflessness, faithfulness, and joy. She was “momma” or “grandma” to everybody that had the blessing of knowing her and she will be very missed and forever cherished.

Waldene is reunited in Heaven with her husband of an amazing 69 years, Ray Dene Floyd, both of her parents, her brothers, Tom St. Clair and Richard (Dick) Bachman, her son Donald R. Floyd, her great-grandson, Will Reed Drake, and her great-great-grandson, Kaden Drake. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Reed (Winfred) of Batesville, her adopted son Jerry Floyd (Zee) of Banner, two sisters, Betty Hunter Bufford of Desha and Deanna Canady of Malvern, her grandchildren:  Melanie Ferrantelle (Louis), of Sherwood, Scott Floyd (Jennifer), of Batesville, Tammy Reynolds (Jessie), of Batesville, and Missy Drake (Shawn), of Batesville, her great-grandchildren: Lindsey Allen, of Texas, Austin Ferrantelle (Marissa) of Bella Vista, Matthew Wilkerson (Tiffaney), of Searcy, Ashlynn Hall (J.T.), of North Carolina, Hailey Drake, Olivia Floyd, Blakeley Floyd, and Ally Drake, her great-great-grandchildren:  Lainey, Kyle, and Dean Wilkerson and Lucas, Kaitlynn, and Hudson Allen, her special nephew, Max Bishop (Dinah), of Batesville, and her Mountain Meadows family, especially her special roommate, Judy Presley.
