A third-party caller alerted authorities early Sunday morning, Dec. 1, about observing a subject sitting in a car in the Kroger parking lot snorting an unknown substance through a straw, according to a Batesville Police Department (BPD) media release.
The caller then followed the vehicle from the parking lot and told dispatch it was “…traveling west on Main Street at a high rate of speed disregarding the posted stop signs.”
A BPD officer caught up to the vehicle as it was pulling into a residence and made contact with two occupants, the release said.
After checking the driver’s information through the Arkansas Crime Information Center, authorities found the subject had an active search waiver on file.
A search was made of the vehicle and yielded two baggies containing a crystal-like substance, a glass smoking pipe, and a straw, the release noted.
Both subjects were taken to jail. The release noted charges are pending an investigation.
