Royce Vern Knowles of Batesville passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at the age of 79. Royce was born Oct. 28, 1940, to the late Hubert Vest and Agnes (Cheney) Vest in Boswell, AR. Royce served the Lord, Jesus Christ, in life as well as a member at First United Methodist Church in Batesville. Her faith was evident through her actions and passions in life. She loved to help others. She was a speech therapist, working in schools, developing and pouring love and attention into the children she taught. She rescued all sorts of dogs, again looking out for those who cannot look out for themselves. Royce was an avid reader and bridge player. She enjoyed watching and playing tennis and loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She leaves a legacy of faith, love, and selflessness that will be carried on through her family for generations to come.
Royce is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill Knowles; two granddaughters, Elise and Grace Blevins; and one grandson, Benjamin Knowles. She is survived by her two sons, Todd Blevins of Batesville and Dr. Steven Blevins (Tomi) of Maumelle, Ark.; one stepson, Brian Knowles (Brandi) of Cabot, Ark.; one daughter-in-law, Michelle Blevins of Batesville; one sister, Velva Huddleston of Batesville; 6 grandchildren: Jacob Blevins, Lindsey Blevins, Avery Blevins, Brooke Holt (Rob), Bayli Santucci (Alex), and Bethany Knowles; 3 great-grandchildren: Rhett Holt, Ruby Holt, and her great-grandson, who is on the way, Jasper Santucci; her beloved nephew and niece, Mark Huddleston and Kim Stobaugh; her cousin Shirley Wilson; and a host of other family and friends who she loved dearly.
Arrangements are entrusted to Willis Funeral Service of Batesville. There will be a visitation at First United Methodist Church in Batesville on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, starting at 10 a.m., with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens in Heber Springs at 1:30 p.m. the same day.
