The Melbourne Bearkatz split senior high conference games on their longest road trip of the season Monday night, as they traveled to Clay County to take on the Rector Cougars. The Lady Katz dominated yet again, using a 19 point first quarter en route to a 72-45 win.
Josie Roark led all scorers with 24 points, including 14 in the third quarter. Kenley McCarn was right behind Roark with 21.
The Bearkatz weren’t as fortunate in the boys’ contest but showed great resolve as they fought back from a 15 point third-quarter deficit before falling late by a final score of 57-52.
The Katz were led by 12 points from Roby Cooper, while Layton Hennings added 11.
